“I see my path, but I don’t know where it leads. Not knowing where I’m going is what inspires me to travel it.” – Rosalia de Castro
17 October 2010 – the day for 33rd Intercontinental Istanbul Eurasia Marathon. The day I started running. 8K run. My first “serious” run. I don’t know how me and my running buddy Zey ended up in the start line of İstanbul Marathon. We were both sophomores in Sabanci University. Both of us into sports and neither of us originally from Istanbul. The idea of crossing the Bosphorus Bridge (one of the two bridges in Istanbul connecting Europe and Asia) on foot was charming enough. Hence, crossing continents on foot!
2010 – ran 8K
2011 – signed up for a 15K – successfully done!
2012 – time to push the limits – let’s try a Half Marathon = 21K! Finished ANTALYA Half Marathon (RUNTALYA).
That was not enough. Running a half marathon motivated me. I started to enjoy my runs more and more. I was looking forward to my next runs. Here they go -> İZNİK 10K in April 2012 and BOZCAADA 10K in May 2012.
October 2012 – I moved to Oxford. New “temporary” home. Best way to explore a new city? Running! OXFORD Half Marathon!
2013 – my running buddy visited me in Oxford. We ran in the TOWN&GOWN OXFORD 10K together after a year.
2014 – Another half marathon. Again in ANTALYA. This time with a more serious training. Completed 21K in 2:03:00. That is my personal best so far. Now my focus is on beating my personal record and running a half marathon under 2 hours.
Nowadays running is almost like a natural part of my daily programme. Enjoying it!

Running is becoming one of my passions. (Just like traveling). I am not running to win. I am not fast. I run because I enjoy it. I love the freedom of running.
